Why are lights important?

I always love people’s reactions when they get their new lights installed. It’s fun to hear the “ooooh’s” and the “aaaaah’s”, especially when moving from yellow (high pressure sodium) to white lights outdoor. 

Many people don’t realize the importance of lighting, and it’s easy to overlook and push to the back of your mind. But here are some very real reasons you want to ensure you have the right lighting:

1. It just looks better: Whether you have customers or workers in an office, people like working/shopping in clean, well lit spaces. 

2. Due to point 1 above, employee morale is increased (and customer spend is stronger when products ‘pop out’).

3. Safety and security increase with proper lighting, replacing dark shadows and dull gray colors with vibrant recognition of color and clarity. 

4. Proper energy consumption. Why pay a higher electric bill than necessary? That’s total waste – you might as well set fire to your money.

Should I come up with more? I could, but these are great reasons to ensure proper lighting. It’s an investment that pays for itself in many ways, some measurable and some not so measurable.
