The Bureau of Labor Statistics has predicted that the employment of electricians will grow by 8 percent from 2019-2026. With an increase in construction spending and demand for alternative energy sources, there will be increased demand for electricians. Alloway Electric is proud to participate in the training of future journeyman electricians.

Alloway Electric is very excited to celebrate our very own apprentice-turned-journeyman Richard Morales. He is the first graduate from our apprenticeship scholarship program. Throughout the program he maintained the required grades and received scholarships for each of the four years he was enrolled in school. While enrolled in school Richard continued to be a critical and important member of the Alloway Team. He has worked in all of the departments at Alloway as well as serving as our lighting technician for the past three years. Richard has expanded his skill set tremendously over his four years of training and is ready to tackle the greater responsibilities of being a licensed journeyman electrician.

Richard enrolled in the apprenticeship classes at the College of Western Idaho in August of 2016. The training was comprised of a mix of online and in-person classes (~576 classroom hours) where he learned how to study and apply the National Electrical Code. In addition, in order to challenge the journeyman exam, he was required to complete a minimum of 8000 hours of on the job training. Each year comes with its own specialized curriculum with a final examination. At the completion of the four years of study, Richard was then eligible to stand for the Journeyman License Exam. And we are happy to introduce our newest licensed journeyman electrician: Richard Morales!
